Well gang, I'm coming up on finishing the 3rd calendar year of having worked on the car. This past week, I rolled over having 300 hours into the car.
So, I thought it was about time to post up another story.
Here's how things started out a few weeks ago. The chassis is moving along nicely.

Here's a picture of my fully restored Holley 4 barrel carburetor. For those who are wondering, this is a List 3810 with vacuum secondaries, and 600 CFM flow rate. Should be just great for my 327. This is THE original carb that came on the car.

Here's a shot after Bob and I had a chance to work on getting some parts installed on the body. We're working on both the chassis and the body at the same time. So, if we run into a hurdle or an issue on the chassis, we just switch over to the body to keep going or wait for parts to arrive.
Here you can see we installed the tail lights, the rear wiring harness, the license plate bezel, and the rear emblem.

Next on my list was to disassemble, clean, paint and reassemble the rear spring. This isn't the original spring that came with the car, but it is a correct style GM spring. So, it should pass the judging just fine.
Here it is just coming back together after being painted. I had to use a couple of large C clamps and a screw driver to keep the leaves aligned properly. Even with those tools, it was still a tough job. But I got it done.

Here's the freshly restored windshield washer pump motor, ready to go back on the firewall.

After that, we installed the windshield and the exterior stainless steel trim. Man was that a sticky job with the black sealant used for the glass. I'm glad we only have to do that once and not twice like we would in a coupe.

Next, I'd like to show you some parts that have been fully restored. Here is a before and after shot of the clock.

And here is a before and after shot of the horns.

Lastly, here is an after shot of the alternator. I don't have a very good shot of it before hand. Notice the correctly stamped diodes on this thing. It is almost TOO NICE to put on the car.

Here are some pictures of the chassis as it sits most recently. The front suspension and steering is coming together. We also have the two pulleys on the car now, along with the water pump. The fan and fan clutch are ready to go, they're just missing some nuts.

In these pictures, you can also see that the exhaust system is starting to be hung in its place. Also, the shifter rods and levers are in place. I need to do a little touch up painting here and there.
Overall, the car is coming along nicely. I'm hoping to be done by August. Yup, I know, that's next month, but we're getting powerfully close. We'll see. July will be a busy month. So far this year I have 143 hours into the car. Bob thinks we have about 3 solid days left on the chassis, and then it is done. On the body, he thinks we have about 10 days.
We have enough time to get it done, we just need to focus on it and not let any more time slip by.
Wish me luck. More pictures and stories to come!
